Summer to Fall Home Décor

Don’t you hate as soon as a holiday or season is barely over, the stores are already on to the next holiday/season? I can’t be the only one! Can I just fat in peace during Thanksgiving without Christmas peaking over its shoulders? With the changing seasons and holidays, comes changes in décor to reflect whatever time of year we’re in. Now that the 4th of July is over, and everyone has finally stored the fireworks, it’s time to think about some fall home décor. I already know what you’re thinking. How am I complaining about the seasonal store turnarounds, yet I’m discussing fall decor while we still have some summer left? Well, look here, I’m being realistic. Fall is going to be here sooner than we think and it’s better to plan. I know you’ve taken the time (read: money) preparing your home for summer for it to turn around be fall two seconds later, but it’s okay. We’ll get through this together. Let’s discuss 4 ways to recycle your summer décor and turn it into fall realness.

Patterns/Colors

Fall is all about the burgundy, navy, olive/forest green, cool tones with a touch of warmth. In addition to these cooler tones, flannel fabrics and plaid scream “It’s Finally Fall!”. If you didn’t know the different between flannel and plaid, now you do. You’re welcome. Instead of switching that fresh, crisp white comforter you searched high, low, and everywhere in between for, add some cool tones to your bed décor. This can be done via throw pillows or a decorative blanket.

Fall Wreath

Though there are many ways to decorate your home with items that will give you fall vibes as with the placement of pine cones and leaves, wreaths are where it’s at. Wreaths tend to the first thing you see when you walk to someone’s door and set the style tone of the home. We don’t see wreaths as frequently during the summer as we do during other seasons, which makes their presence even sweeter. These door statement pieces can be store bought or homemade with items you found whilst cleaning the garage or from a random trip to Michael’s.

Fall Scents

The scents that summer brings are like no other: fragrant flowers, freshly cut grass, and regret on Monday morning after Sunday funday. But the amora that gives you all the fall feels have summer smells beat. Switch those fruity, citrus plug-ins and candles for a traditional fresh pine and apple-cinnamon fragrance. Come on, who doesn’t like the smell of apple pie whilst on a strict diet?

Backyard fire pit

Frankly, the best part about fall is wearing layered clothing, some bomb thigh high boots, and scarves. So. Many. Scarves. Another perk about the nights getting cooler and lasting longer is a fire pit in the back yard. You spent many summer nights watching the flames dance in a light breeze and listening to the crackle of the wood burning; fall won’t be any different. Grab your most cozy blanket and some marshmallows, it’s bonfire time.
